The processing of Medicaid applications can be inefficient for attorneys; they often must wait on long lines at the Medicaid office (or worse, mail in the application) and then have no one to follow up with if something goes wrong. These issues have become compounded by Casa no longer handling most home care cases and Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs) becoming much more restrictive with approving Medicaid pending services (many agencies will no longer approve Medicaid pending services at all).

Pooled Income Trust Processing
Similar to Medicaid applications, the processing of pooled income trusts can be an inefficient one for attorneys. As certified Medicaid Client-Representatives, we have direct access to the Medicaid surplus unit for the submission of pooled income trusts. In many instances, it is necessary for a patient’s Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC) plan to submit their pooled trust. We are contracted with most of the MLTC plans in NYC and are often able to assist in getting the pooled trust into the right hands to ensure that it is processed.
But simply getting the pooled trust submitted to Medicaid is hardly doing enough. Submitting the trust at the appropriate time as well as communicating with appropriate parties can make a huge difference in how quickly your client is able to access Medicaid home care services. We submit pooled trusts in line with industry best practices and in concert with the coordination of Medicaid covered home care services. These measures ensure that the pending processing of your client’s pooled trust is not an impediment to them accessing services.
Lastly, we are able to speak directly with the Medicaid office to verify that your client’s pooled income trust has actually been approved.
